Just in case . . .

A LIGHTER SIDE

By
Just in case . . .

I’ve still got a hitch in my get along from falling when my sweet little kitty startled me by biting my hand while I was getting her out of my work chair.

That was a few weeks ago, and my hip and left leg didn’t hurt until a day or two later.

I have no idea if I’m bruised because I’m not a contortionist. I almost fell in the bathroom while trying to see the injured site with my hand mirror.

Yes, I am good friends with my neighbor, Paula. But I’d like to stay that way so I haven’t called her over.

I should have told the doctor when I went there for my ear, but was so grateful there weren’t any forms to fill out that included: “Have you fallen in the last six months?”

Did I mention that I hit my head against the wall when I fell?

That would explain why I’m writing about this, but there is more.

I was able to scoot over to my work chair.

It has rollers which made it almost impossible to stay still.

Ditto for the kitchen chair next to my computer.

Usually it works to crawl over to a sturdy piece of furniture so you can get up.

Somehow I managed to get on all fours and was able to stand up that time, but I had two backups.

(1) I keep my car keys in my pocket at all times, and have told my neighbors if they hear my horn honking that I need help.

(2) I try to keep my cell phone with me at all times, especially when in the bathroom.

With this last fall I also told myself to stay calm. That worked too.
