Left intent on returning us to Dark Ages
It’s sad to think this, BUT…
The anarchical riots and attacks on freedom of speech, if successful, could take us right back to the 18th century where there were a few strongmen and all others were serfs.
Those who disagree with this might say, but, Reid, anarchy means without a ruler.
That’s right, but let’s look at China, the Soviet Union, or, even closer to home, Venezuela.
Those dictatorships, as we understand, grew out of revolts that wiped away established governments.
The American revolution, which we celebrate on July 4th, was a different matter. It was about throwing off the shackles of an overseas government that refused to give the colonists any say in the government that controlled them.
“Taxation without representation” was the rallying cry of the Boston Tea Party, as we remember from our history books, back when schools – not like those in Chicago and other big cities – actually taught history as opposed to racism, transgenderism and various other “isms” that thrill the radical manipulators today.
The Free Press News Service related this item by a Venezuelan actress, Elizabeth Rogliani, who expressed concern about the current craze in America to tear down statues of individuals important to America’s past
Venezuelan Actress Emigre Sees a Correlation
She told her followers on TikTok why she is concerned to see statues being torn down and roads being renamed in America.
Rogliani said in the June 22 post: “Why do I even worry about some silly little statues coming down or some silly little street names changing? Why do I care?
“It is because the last time I didn’t care about this, I was a teenager. I have already lived through this thing when I was living in Venezuela. Statues came down – Chavez didn’t want that history displayed. And then he changed the street names. Then came the [school curricula]. Then some movies couldn’t be shown, then certain TV channels, and so on and so forth.
“You guys think this can’t happen to you, I’ve heard it so many times. But always be on guard. Never believe something can’t happen to you. You’ve got to defend your country and your society or it will be destroyed.
Venezuela Was Warned
“We didn’t believe it could happen to us. Most Venezuelans — Cubans warned us — and we were like, ‘This is Venezuela, we know about freedom. That’s not going to happen here.’ Yet it happened. And there are literally a lot of people wanting to destroy the U.S.”
Columnist Cal Thomas quoted the late evangelist and scholar Ravi Zacharias who observed: “Pleasure without God, without the sacred boundaries, will actually leave you emptier than before. And this is biblical truth, this is experiential truth. The loneliest people in the world are amongst the wealthiest and most famous who found no boundaries within which to live. That is a fact I’ve seen again and again.”
Thomas then added:
As the Psalmist wrote long ago, “When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?”
Another columnist Kurt Schlichter, who is also an attorney and author, points out:
“There’s a basic rule that far too many conservatives ignore: if some alleged conservative principle makes you less free, then it’s not a good conservative principle and you should toss it in the trash.”
This Election Really Could Be Most Important Ever
If you think this year’s presidential election isn’t important, you’ve been asleep.
Yeah, I know, every election is the “most critical in history,” some cynic might say.
Ya know, that just might be true.
As former President Ronald Reagan pointed out:
“Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.”
Now back to the beginning:
How could this election take us back to medieval-style governance?
If the left takes control of the U.S. as it did before President Trump’s election, it would almost assuredly increase the powers of a more authoritative central government. Only authorized speech would be allowed and there surely wouldn’t be guns in the hands of regular people.
Anyone saying anything the elite didn’t like could be sent to re-education camp (think dungeon; think what Communist China is doing to the Uighurs).
Polls are showing Joe Biden has the lead.
Polls were wrong four years ago but they could be right.
You can bet this election will be hard fought and close. If the left is successful in its drive to create more mailed-in ballots, it very well could make the difference.
