Our nation is facing a cultural, spiritual crisis

By

Dear Editor,

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

– Ephesians 6:12 Charlie Kirk understood this verse deeply and he lived his life in line with its truth. Tragically, he died standing for what he believed in.

Mainstream media often claims that political violence stems from the right. However, it is important to recognize that conservatives are not the ones labeling immigration officers as Nazis or comparing the President of the United States to Adolf Hitler.

These comparisons are not only historically inaccurate but also dangerously irresponsible. They diminish the severity of true historical atrocities and contribute to a culture of misinformation.

To be clear, Donald Trump has not rounded up Jewish people and put them in ovens. That comparison does not hold up and should never be used so carelessly.

Online platforms such as TikTok, Reddit and Discord have played a role in radicalizing segments of the population, encouraging the belief that violence is a valid response to opposing viewpoints.

This stands in direct contrast to the ideals our nation was founded on.

The Founding Fathers believed in the power of open dialogue and the free exchange of ideas. As John Stuart Mill noted, the best remedy for false speech is more speech, not silence, censorship, or violence.

Charlie Kirk was committed to that principle. He spent his life engaging in dialogue, debate, and advocacy. The fact that he was targeted and killed for expressing his beliefs is deeply troubling.

Even more concerning is the reaction from some corners of society on the left, where the loss of his life was met with indifference or even approval, while far less serious matters involving public figures received disproportionate outrage.

One example is the response to Jimmy Kimmel, who was suspended by Disney for just one week due to something he said. Many on the left reacted with outrage over that brief suspension.

At the same time, some of those same voices had little to say about the murder of Charlie Kirk.

One man lost a week of television. The other lost his life. The contrast in public response speaks volumes.

Our nation is facing a cultural and spiritual crisis. As stated in Isaiah 5:20: Woe to those who call evil good and good evil.

That verse feels more relevant than ever.

Still, there is hope. Healing will not come through political maneuvering or media narratives.

It will come through humility, prayer and a return to moral clarity.

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. - 2 Chronicles 7:14 This moment in history is not just about politics. It is about the struggle between truth and falsehood, good and evil.

As Romans 8:28 reminds us, even in dark times, God works through all things to fulfill His purpose.

Charlie Kirk stood for truth in a time of confusion. Honoring his legacy means rejecting violence, speaking honestly and engaging respectfully, even when we disagree.

That is the kind of leadership our country needs now more than ever.
