Thank you for sending me a notice to renew the Kingfisher paper. It contains so much real news that I read it cover to cover. I’m a Kingfisher girl that married a Guthrie farmer.
Marvin, my husband, passed away November 16th. His heart valve was worn out and wouldn’t close. He was 95 and kept his abilities of thinking, remembering and speech all three days he was in the Intensive care at OKC.
I’m 86 and cannot drive a car anymore, so I have to depend on someone else for nearly everything.
My maiden name was Lois Johnson.
I always look at the obituaries and I read that Thomas Sandefur passed away December 8th. He was my classmate at Big 4 School.
There were only 11 in my class, but we had excellent teachers.
I’ve done farm work for 68 years. I milked 22 cows by hand for six years until we got a milking machine. We sold cream to Gold Spot Dairy at Enid. We had lots of laying hens (200) – sold hatching eggs to Stillwater Hatchery, a herd of 30 pigs, beef cattle and two quarter sections to farm that we had to purchase ourselves.
I’ve driven tractors with no cab and no air conditioning.
I’m well except for my knees – arthritis in both and no cartilage in either one.
I trust in almighty God to keep me going and he does.

[Christine Reid’s] page 1 article in the Dec. 22 edition of the KT&FP was your best ever. It was very enlightening to me as I have no experience with the disease and very heartbreaking as it described what those with the disease go through. That said, IT NEEDS TO BE PUBLISHED ON A NATIONAL SCALE, not just in a local, small-town newspaper. Publishing this article on a large scale might just do more for those with the disease than anything done to date.
I also noted your comment about Mike Sanders being term limited. I hope our country can find a public position for Mike where his great attitude and energy can be harnessed to even greater value. Perhaps teaching Congress how to do their jobs instead of focusing 99% of their attention on bickering and trying to get re-elected?
Oh yes, and another great editorial by Gary Reid. I’m still looking forward to meeting him …. If I ever make it back to Kingfi sher.
