Memory problems? I don’t remember any

By

In a recent shopping trip I remembered to get some memory pills that family, and friends, have been taking, and recommending, for years.

I traipsed up and down the drug aisles and didn’t find any so I decided to ask a pharmacist.

But I couldn’t remember what those pills were called, because as an old person I was too embarrassed to just ask for “memory pills.”

In hindsight, that was dumb, and I should’ve just asked another elderly customer. They’d probably also know how much it costs. *** I’ve had trouble remembering people’s names, but can still remember Alexa’s name without reading Alexa on the pink Sticky note I’d put on her screen. And that’s not because I’m taking Prevagen, because I haven’t bought any yet. But, I did remember that word on my own, but Googled it to know how to spell it.

Writing about Alexa makes me think about Siri, and I wondered if she was still on my phone.

“Hey Siri,” I just spoke into my phone, and she answered.

Then I tried just calling for “Siri,” and she also answered.

I apologized, and said I didn’t need anything.

“No problem,” she said. I’d forgotten all about her. If I’d needed her I could just say: “Siri, I’ve fallen, and I can’t get up,” and she’d get me help.

So it’s a good thing to always keep your phone next to you, and to make sure it’s charged. *** In November that early morning storm warning on my phone woke me, but it was hearing the storm sirens that got me in gear.

It was too late to call my neighbor with a storm cellar.

So I threw coats, and old pillows out of the hallway closet to make room for me to sit on an old footstool.

I couldn’t get Tuxedo- the-Girl-Cat to get in there with me, but decided in case the tornado hit I’d need to take something else important into that closet with me.

It didn’t dawn on me to take my billfold that had my Social Security and credit cards, but knew I should take something that I couldn’t do without.

That’s when I went across the hallway to the bathroom, and put in my dentures.

Luckily, the tornado went a few miles east of my house, and I was able to eat breakfast that morning, and have since then.
