Merry Christmas everyone ... Christmas under attack from left

By
VIEW - from behind the plow

Now we’ve done it – destroyed any hope of ever being considered a “woke” person by the elitist left. Dennis Prager, a nationally-known columnist, radio show host and religious Jew, says that the left (as opposed to liberals) doesn’t like Christmas and has been warring against it for more than a generation. Of course, the left despises Christianity, although it goes to great lengths to deny it. That’s typical behavior by the left: deny what its doing and even blame the very thing it does on its political enemies. Prager calls that sort of behavior Chutzpah (a Yiddish word meaning shameless audacity). By the way, Prager says he is not offended by the words Merry Christmas and is happy to attend Christmas parties. He explains his opinion that the left hates Christmas this way: “The left has stopped schools from calling Christmas vacations by that name -- the name schools called them throughout American history until the last couple of decades. Almost every non-Christian school in America now calls Christmas vacation ‘winter break.’ Fewer and fewer Americans, stores, companies or media wish people a “Merry Christmas,” preferring the neutered “happy holidays” (despite the fact that the overwhelming majority of Americans celebrate Christmas). And in but one generation, virtually every American business has gone from having a ‘Christmas party’ to having a ‘holiday party.’” Prager says the left sees in Christianity its primary ideological and political enemy and is right in doing so, explaining:

Christianity Stands in the Way of Left Takeover

“The only large-scale organized opposition to the left comes from the traditional Christian community -- evangelical Protestants, traditional Catholics and faithful Mormons – and Orthodox Jews. Leftism is a secular religion, and it deems all other religions immoral and false. “From Karl Marx to Vladimir Lenin to George Soros, the left has regarded religion in general and Christianity in particular as the ‘opiate of the masses’ -- a drug that dulls the masses into accepting their oppressed condition and, thereby, keeps them from engaging in revolution.” The left understands that the more people believe in Christianity (and Judaism), the less chance the left, which has become a religion itself, has to gain power. “The left doesn’t concern itself with Islam, because it perceives Islam as an ally in its war against western civilization, and because leftists do not have the courage to confront Islam,” Prager says. “They know that confronting religious Muslims can be fatal, whereas confronting religious Christians entails no risks.”

Thanksgiving Also Verboten

The left also considers Thanksgiving an immoral celebration, which many American school children are now being taught is a celebration of the genocide of American Indians. Prager believes another reason the left hates Christmas is because leftism is joyless. Leftists would rather be hating someone or something than being happy. Holly, jolly is a term that doesn’t register with such people. Merry Christmas, everyone, anyway, even if its not sanctioned by the leftist elite, It’s a beautiful season, filled with beautiful, happy music and sincere messages of good wishes. Who wouldn’t enjoy getting Christmas cards from friends and family, including many from people one doesn’t get to see frequently? The Christmas message itself is beautiful.

Believing In Jesus

It may be hard for some to believe that God sent his own son into the world in human form to save the world from its wickedness. God and the holy spirit are not visible, touchable concepts that a hard-to-convince individual might not accept easily but one must accept that Christ’s appearance 2,000 years ago changed the world more than any other historical figure. And Christ is, indeed, historical. We heard a story recently about the newly-minted preacher in a small rural community who was accosted by a non-believer who asked this question: “Would you believe a young unmarried woman who turned up pregnant and said that God was the father of her baby. The young preacher replied: “If the baby turned out to be Jesus, I would.” Again, Merry Christmas to all.
