We hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving with friends and family despite coronavirus concerns and the angst over the presidential election recounts.

If you lived in Oregon, you might have run up against the law if you had a family Thanksgiving get-together.

The state recently legalized hard drugs but ... Gov. Kate Brown, a Democrat, issued orders which would force families of seven or more to turn away their own children from the meal—she’s become a national punchline.

Our family would have been in deep trouble in Oregon. Son and daughter-in-law Barry and Mary Reid had family members over for a sumptuous Thanksgiving dinner that involved four generations, including great-grandson, Dax.

We ate the most delicious meal imaginable, including turkey, stuffing (our favorite), broccoli salad, scalloped potatoes, sweet potato casserole, rolls, many pies (more than I’ve eaten in one sitting in years). Mary knocked herself out with the effort and we’re sure daughter-in-law Donna contributed. They’re both great cooks.

Election a Contaminated Disaster

The 2020 presidential election process was so shamelessly contaminated, it is unlikely we’ll ever know the accurate count.

Our nation has been turned upside down by leftist chicanery that knows no bounds.

Their end justifies any dirty trick they want to pull.

Such criminality must stop now if America is to continue as a free nation.

Everyday Americans must prepare now to prevent the election hijacking techniques that the left employed in 2020 in the future.

A columnby Kay Coles James, president of The Heritage Foundation, in Sunday’s edition outlined election reforms that had alreadybeen recommended (but ignored) by leftist leaders in large cities and states.

Voter identification and clean registration lists are only common sense measures that responsible leaders would eagerly accept and use. The key word there is, of course, responsible, which might also imply honesty

Of course, it must be recognized the fair election wreckers have no shame. They’re seeking power to rule over people they completely despise.

One must remember that the left has always fought dirty in its underhanded efforts to overthrow nations and gain control.

The election reforms Mrs. James outlined were recommended by a bipartisan commission, including former President Carter and Sen.Tom Daschle, Democrats, and former Reagan Secretary of State James Baker and herself, Republicans.

The commission recommended that state voter registration databases be shared among the states to eliminate duplicate registrations. That hasn’t happened, and too many states don’t cooperate in comparing their voter lists. As a result, it’s relatively easy for someone to register and vote in multiple states with little chance of getting caught.

Election officials have also failed to remove people who have moved out of state or died. A 2012 Pew study found that 24 million voter registrations in the U.S. were inaccurate, out of date or duplicates. The commission recommended that states do electronic matching with their own death records, drivers’ licenses, local tax rolls and other records. Yet, many aren’t bothering to do even that.

Commission Offered Cures

The commission said states should implement a voter identification requirement to ensure that people presenting themselves at the polling place match the registration list.

While many states, including Oklahoma, have passed voter ID laws, some of the biggest states in the nation like California and New York haven’t.

The commission also stressed the importance of verifying that only citizens are voting, recommending that states obtain proof of citizenship before registering voters. Yet, the left has consistently opposed such efforts. Because many states aren’t verifying, non-citizens can vote with little chance of being detected.

In fact, in 2017, the Public Interest Legal Foundation found in Virginia alone that more than 5,500 non-citizens had registered to vote and more than 1,800 of them had voted illegally multiple times.

Individuals who believe America is worth saving would gladly follow such recommendations.

That’s the kicker. Leftists aren’t pro-America.

That’s why conservatives must prepare for the fight of their lives.

Most of us can’t do much on our own to combat the left, but if an organization like Heritage Foundation receives substantial funding it can do a lot to help in the fight ahead.
