Patriots speak their minds

Michael Youssef, a Christian preacher and author, discussed his new book, “Hope for this Present Crisis: The Seven Step Path to Restoring a World Gone Mad,” in an interview with Eric Metaxas on Metaxas’ TV program on the religious channel Sunday evening.

Youssef says it is possible the world has gone mad and we are fighting a major war – a fight for our soul. Youssef points out:

We are under siege and the war is not from without; it is from within. The collapse of the Roman Empire occurred in a single generation and was not so much the result of invasions by their enemies but the result of moral decay and internal corruption. Similar patterns are emerging in America. We neglected or abandoned our traditional institutions long ago, but now it’s time to take them back.

Both Youssef and Metaxas emphasized the importance for citizens to hold on to their First Amendment rights and continue to speak their opinions.

In Hope for This Present Crisis, Dr. Youssef provides a diagnosis of the insanity of the current culture and a seven-step prescription for restoring sanity to a world gone mad. Here’s the seven-step path to restoring a world gone mad:

Remember the Truth – Stand firm on the truth of the gospel.

Restore the Soul – Seek God’s approval not the approval of other people.

Revitalize the Family – Guard your children from the horrors of the Internet.

Re-establish the Classroom – Support conscientious, caring public school teachers.

Respect our Freedoms – Know your rights.

Reform our Society – Morally and spiritually purify yourself.

Revive the Church – Demonstrate the forgiving love of Jesus at all times.

This book will teach you how to stand up to attacks on your faith, and defend Christianity as a meaningful contribution to society, one reviewer writes.

Michael Youssef is an Egyptian-American pastor and televangelist. He is the senior pastor of the Church of the Apostles in Atlanta, Georgia, and the executive president of Leading the Way.

Youssef, who says his family has been Christian for 2000 years says there are 10 million Christians in Egypt’s total population of 80 million and include members of the Coptic Orthodox Church. Coptic Catholic Church and numerous protestant denominations.

Youssef estimates there are another one million of Coptic Orthodox Church dispersed worldwide.

In reviewing his own life, Youssef revealed he comes from a family of preachers.

He said even after his oldest brother was an adult, he was still expected to be home at 10 p.m. daily to participate in a family altar, where they all of prayed.

Over and over, Youssef emphasized the importance of citizens speaking the truth and the power of sincere prayer.
