Re: View from Behind the Plow (April 5, 2020)
I read and appreciated your opinion piece recognizing and elevating the national hero that was Oklahoma’s Tom Coburn.
I especially appreciated your closing that reminded your readers of the gravity and seriousness of our country’s out-of-control spending. In closing you asked the question: So, what are we going to do about it? It is a question I would encourage all of us as Americans to think seriously about. When I think of the problem, Thomas Jefferson’s quote comes to mind - “The condition upon which God hath given liberty to man is eternal vigilance.”
Inspired and aided by Tom Coburn, I have given much thought to this question over the last three years. With God’s help, much progress has been made over the last 12 months. While a huge amount of work is before us, I remain optimistic.
Perhaps your readers would benefit in the telling of the story to date as well as the revealing of an outline for the work remaining.
With your permission, I will begin next Sunday to attempt to do precisely that.
