SPITE
The left has gained control of both houses of Congress and the presidency
The first order of business of the new congress was a call to impeach President Trump, who has only a week left on his term.
This declares loudly that the goal of the new regime is to flex its muscle. The left had been held in check by a Republican Senate during the preceding four years.
The left’s desire to impeach President Trump at this late date reveals how much they fear - and respect - him. They want to make him ineligible for any office in the future...because he would likely win. The left is not used to anyone who will fight back.
As of now, the mob has been turned loose against patriotic Americans, thanks to an election that at least half of America will forever see as dishonest.
America reached this point because the right - largely made up of Christians - has played by the rules, thanks to their teaching of loving their enemies and turning the other cheek.
The left has no such compunction. Winning - by any means possible - and ruling are the left’s only concern.
The talk of impeaching President Trump at this late date also displays their spitefulness.
One would think that the new administration and Congress might busy themselves with the nation’s business. But no, they are determined to take their pound of flesh.
They were frustrated when their faux impeachment attempt a year ago fell flat with the nation’s citizens despite a steady drumbeat of baseless accusations against the president by the major media and the social media corporations. The reports of the protest in Washington last week was reported with as much bias as that employed against the president during the entire election year.
President Trump did not encourage a riot as the leftwing media reported.
He welcomed their supportbut did not encourage a riot as the major media indicated.
Another obvious leftist intention with an inane impeachment effort apparently is to drive a deeper wedge between citizens, creating even more dissent and unrest.
The left’s spite likely will not stop with President Trump but extend to every state that voted for him.
While walking proud now, leftist leaders haven’t seen the last of the opposition to their agenda. Unrest is seething nationwide. Even many who voted for Biden don’t believe in the socialists’ plans.
Pray for a sense of sensibility to permeate the minds of the leaders on the left.
Former President Reagan once remarked that if fascism ever comes to America, it will be in the name of liberalism.
A quote attributed to author and playwright Sinclair Lewis expanded on the theme saying fascism will come wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross.
It was stomach turning to hear quotes from the Washington establishment that the protesters were attacking democracy They were expressing their first amendment rights.
Of course, violence is not acceptable and the protest gave the left another opportunity to attack conservatives.
The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board warned last week that if Republicans lost control of the Senate (which they did) it would effectively end the prospect of any meaningful oversight of Joe Biden in the White House, including the scandal involving his son, who is under federal criminal investigation over his taxes and foreign business dealings. Having lost control of the Senate Committees, Republicans will also lose the ability to stop any of Biden’s nominees.
The Journal added:
“Some of our friends think Democrats couldn’tblow up the 60-vote legislative filibuster rule with a mere 50 votes. Their confidence hangs on West Virginia’s Joe Manchin, who says he supports the filibuster. But imagine the political and media pressure on Manchin if Republicans use the filibuster to block Joe Biden’s agenda. He’s always been a loyal party man when it really matters.
“If the filibuster stays, Biden will need to compromise to get GOP votes for an infrastructure bill, new Obamacare subsidies or repealing Section 230 on tech liability. A public option on health care is probably out of reach, as would be much of his climate agenda.
“But if the filibuster goes, so do bipartisan restraints. Statehood for the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico become possible, with four new Senate seats to cement a Democratic majority. Biden’s aggressive union agenda has a chance, including overtime pay mandates and easier organizing of franchise chains. So do nationwide mandates for ballot harvesting and mail-in voting, a ban on arbitration in business contracts, price controls on drugs, huge subsidies for green energy and perhaps a carbon tax. We could go on.”
