Trump appoints conservative Christian

By

President Trump has pulled another stunning public relations move, leaving the left in panic mode. He nominated a true conservative to the Supreme Court.

The leftist element of the Washington swamp elite has already given notice it will be a battle to the death before they accept Amy Coney Barrett as a Supreme Court justice.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has already pointed out that she is a Catholic but not a “radical” Catholic like Mrs. Barrett, who actually believes in Jesus.

Besides being a Christian, Mrs. Barrett is expected to be a stalwart on guns, freedom of religion for all and not aborting the most defenseless among us.

Also, she is young, pretty, has a husband and a full house of children, including a couple adopted from Haiti.

She presents a difficult target for opponents but don’t count the Swamp out.

Those people can be relied on to come up with some vile (make that many) allegations completely divorced from reality.

The fact that Barrett is a lady and received a complete vote of confidence from the law school faculty at Notre Dame where she once taught – Democrat, Republican and Independent – won’t mean anything to the left.

She must be an extremely strong person to take on the slimy attacks those who hate a free America are sure to launch.

Hurrah for President Trump for nominating her; Hurrah for ACB accepting the challenge.

Now it’s time for the Republicans in the Senate to do the responsible thing and push the nomination through to a proper conclusion – confirmation – quickly.

What A Democrat Sweep Would Mean

The United States would undergo massive changes if the Nov. 3 election resulted in a sweep of the presidency, Senate and House of Representatives.

The Democrat platform calls for establishment of the Green New Deal (a policy that would make the U.S. economy 100 percent clean energy based with net-zero emissions, which in the opinion of many economists would destroy America’s economy), Medicare for All, raising the minimum wage, eliminating existing student debt, opening America’s borders to unlimited immigration, higher taxes (supposedly only on the wealthy, but really not), continuation of at least current abortion policies, promoting union power (euphemistically called protecting workers’ rights), “reforming” the campaign finance system, making Washington, D.C., the 51st state, and guaranteeing self-determination for Puerto Rico (read that making Puerto Rico the 52nd state so as to likely give Democrats four more senators).

Democratic Reps. Joe Kennedy and Jerry Nadler, who’s chairman of House Judiciary Committee, both tweeted after the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, that Democrats should add two new members to the Supreme Court if President Trump and the current Senate nominate and confirm a successor to Ginsburg.

The American Left has become accustomed to a cozy relationship with the court, providing it an unfair advantage of left-leaning justices they could count on for opinions that benefitted their political positions – legislating from the bench – in their favor.

There is nothing in the Constitution saying how many justices are required on the court, only that it be established along with such inferior courts as Congress may establish.

The number of justices was established by statute so it may be changed.

The number has remained at nine for many years. The last attempt to “pack” it occurred when Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt was president.

Roosevelt was very frustrated that a majority on the Supreme Court were issuing rulings striking down large portions of his New Deal. He didn’t like this. So he proposed a plan to basically pack the court. A number of the justices were elderly so he proposed naming another justice for every justice who was over 70 years old.

How Court Could Be “Packed”

John Malcolm, head of the Meese Legal Center at the Heritage Foundation, explains that the maneuver by FDR didn’t succeed for a couple of reasons. One, Roosevelt couldn’t get enough votes from the Democrat-controlled Senate, and two, one of the justices started voting for Roosevelt’s program – so there was no need.

It became known as the “switch in time that saved nine.”

Malcolm said that he thinks if Trump pushes through a nominee, which seems likely, and loses the Senate majority, Democrats will definitely pack the court and end legislative filibuster.

After that, they would only need a simple majority of the House to pass a change in the number of Supreme Court positions.

If the above should occur, America would be in danger of splitting apart.
