Big dose of sunshine needed in ‘Swamp’

A little ray of sunshine can do a world of good. That disinfectant applies to illness, the weather and government. President Donald Trump has given Attorney General William Barr authority to declassify sensitive Foreign Service Intelligence Surveillance Act court records. This will assist bringing to light what happened in the beginning of the Trump-Russia investigation. Those on the left have raised a huge protest against the action. The response raises the question – why? The answer seems simple enough: They don’t want the facts to be known. They would prefer to let baseless rumors continue to be floated across the Swamp and the nation that would allow them to continue their attempt to unseat a duly-elected president they dearly love to hate.

TDS Designed to Damage Public Trust

It is so prevalent a psychological term has been created for it: Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS). Columnist Armstrong Williams calls it an attempt to damage public trust, a vital concept in a free country built on the foundation of “consent of the governed.” Williams comments: “The importance of these documents and concepts is on display because the consent of the governed is at risk of being revoked. A rupture of the public trust, such as we have today, is a rare occurrence in our nation’s history. The only thing that will heal this rupture and put us on the path to restoring public trust is sunshine (the disinfectant). Every citizen should be interested in seeing the true story revealed, letting the chips fall where they may. Williams adds: “We now know that private citizens evidently have had their personal liberty and rights trampled on by unaccountable staff and contract employees of the FBI, CIA, National Security Agency, National Security Council, and the State Department, just to name a few. “This is unprecedented – and unacceptable.” Attorney General Barr is an ideally qualified and suitable individual brought to the nation’s center at the exact right time to let the sun shine in. The quicker he accomplishes the job the better it will be for America. The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth is what the nation needs. What reasonable person could be opposed to learning “just the facts, ma’am,” as Sgt. Joe Friday used to say on “Dragnet.” The Patriot Act was enacted in 2001 to intercept and obstruct terrorist attacks. It protects the identity of who is spying and other methods to do risky things. It was never designed to conceal illegal activities or abuse of public trust that would embarrass elected officials. President Trump has been pushed to the limit. He seems to be saying, “Bring it.”

Making America Less Safe

Michaela Dodge writing for The Daily Signal reports: “The Democrat-controlled House Armed Services subcommittee on strategic forces is advancing policies on nuclear weapons and missile defense that would make the U.S. and its allies less safe. This is evident in the markup (or the subcommittee’s version) of the National Defense Authorization Act, which it released Tuesday. “For example, the markup prohibits funding for deployment of the W76-2 low-yield nuclear warhead despite a strong endorsement from Air Force Gen. John Hyten, commander of U.S. Strategic Command, who is charged with executing the deterrence mission. “The action comes on the heels of a letter to leaders of the House and Senate Armed Services committees from 26 national security experts, calling for such a step (as well as for an extension of the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, a bad idea of its own). The Obama heritage of blatantly working for the demise of America appears to remain alive among certain members of Congress. A hefty dose of sunshine might help in that area, too. Citizens should know who actively supports the destruction of their country.
