Burns’ special gives skewed history of U.S.
If you watch modern historical specials about America as we did recently – Ken Burns’ depiction in “The West” – and that’s all you knew about the country, you might well come to the conclusion that America was never great, the current leftist battle cry.
No doubt the nation has made mistakes.
Its redeeming virtue is that it has worked to correct its mistakes of the past, some made by government and others by well-meaning organizations including churches.
True, not every person is equal. We can blame our genes on that. But every citizen has the opportunity to “raise himself up by his bootstraps” and by working diligently, he can gain a measure of success in America.
Everybody won’t become a millionaire, but those who apply themselves usually become comfortable.
In the process, they are also making America their home, not just the place they happen to live.
The left is in the midst of a major push to destroy America’s past and its constitutional government.
They claim the only solution is to dump our past and turn all decision making over to a centralized government, which (without saying it) they intend to control, of course.
All people never all see eye to eye on every question, but progress has been made under our system of government because while the majority makes the rules, those in the minority have rights that protect them.
In an attempt to change America, the left is seeking to destroy the things that have provided a stable, positive culture benefitting the vast majority of citizens, including minority groups.
To achieve this change, they want to do away with the way we choose the president (ending the Electoral College), which would turn the power to name the top executive to a few heavily populated communities, thereby diminishing safeguards the Electoral College provides less populous areas.
This change would also allow them to control the third rail of American government, providing a majority favorable to the left on the Supreme Court.
America’s left is beside itself at this point because of a shift in the makeup of the Supreme Court, which had been under its thumb for many years, reliably returning decisions for the left which could not be gained legislatively.
That’s the reason for the continued efforts to lynch (politically) the newest court appointee, Brett Kavanaugh.
The latest effort to destroy Kavanaugh, coming a year after he was seated after a stormy hearing that made the term “Borking” seem tame, imploded last week despite a sleazy effort by the New York Times and its leftist fellow travelers in mainstream media to resuscitate it.
If you thought the left had a soul, that pernicious attack should have settled the question.
The continued baseless allegations undoubtedly injured Kavanaugh’s wife and children besides attempting to hold him up to public ridicule once again.
To left-wing activists, that is immaterial.
When government is your religion, cruel acts are legitimate to gain your way.
And so it goes. Don’t expect any change from the left until it achieves control. After that it will get worse.
Kavanaugh was not the primary target of the latest smear; that is President Donald Trump.
He ruined the left’s planned takeover in the 2016 election and he will never be forgiven. So any smear is not only acceptable to the left but laudable.
Get ready for unbelievable nastiness during the 2020 election.
War on Christianity ... even at seminary
Not only must our government change, our entire culture must evolve to government worship, in the left’s perfect world.
The nation must be willing to open its borders and give immediate voting rights to all those who swarm in, including Muslim terrorists who attempt to hide themselves in the flood.
Possibly you heard that Union Theological Seminary students in New York City prayed to a collection of plants in the chapel recently.
Union is a non-denominational seminary affiliated with Columbia University.
The school defended the action, tweeting:
“Today in chapel, we confessed to plants.
Together, we held our grief, joy, regret, hope, guilt and sorrow in prayer;
offering them to the beings who sustain us but whose gift we too often fail to honor.
What do you confess to the plants in your life?”
The action indicates a support by supposed future teachers of Christian theology a stronger belief in rabid environmentalism.
The school further piously tweeted:
“We are in the throes of a climate emergency,
a crisis created by humanity’s arrogance, our disregard for Creation.”
It said we must create "new spiritual and intellectual frameworks by which we understand and relate to the plants and animals with whom we share the planet.’”
Columnist David Limbaugh comments that the school also boasted of its “inter-religious engagement” quoting:
“Union’s daily chapel is, by design, a place where people from all the wondrous faith traditions at Union can express their beliefs. And, given the incredible diversity of our community, that means worship looks different every day!”
Few Christians would deny that they should be responsible stewards of the environment. After all the Christian Bible states that God put humans in charge.
However the school doubles down, admonishing humanity for its arrogance in dealing with the environment. It was nice enough to capitalize Creation.
Perhaps the seminary leaders should re-read James 3:1 which reminds that those who teach will be judged more strictly than others.
Note: If The leftists fail in the current drive for a United Socialist States of America (USSA), the Democrats as a party seemingly must limp back from the current anti-gun, anti-Constitution, anti-Bill of Rights posture to a more middle of the road philosophy.
The goal of former President Barack Obama to “fundamentally transform America” (left) may have then breathed its dying breath.
