President Trump speaks out for religious liberty

President Trump continues to confound his opponents and gratify his supporters.

Speaking last week at the United Nations in New York, President Trump announced an initiative to protect religious liberty, saying his administration would commit $25 million in related efforts internationally.

He said business leaders are involved in new efforts to end persecution.

“The religious freedom enjoyed by American citizens is rare in the world. Approximately 80% of the world’s population live in countries where religious liberty is threatened, restricted, or even banned,” Trump said.

“When I heard that number, I said, ‘Please go back and check it, because it can’t possibly be correct. Sadly, it was. Eighty percent.’”

He added:

“As we speak, Jews, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Sikhs, Yazidis, and many other people of faith are being jailed, sanctioned, tortured, and even murdered, often at the hands of their own government, simply for expressing their deeply held religious beliefs. …”

The initiative calls to mind the event in Africa in 2014 when a group of Christian school girls were abducted by Boko Haram raiders.

They were married to insurgents, faced brutal treatment and rape and gave birth to their own children, a couple of girls who managed to escape reported.

Reports say that more than 2,000 women and girls have been abducted in North East Nigeria by the militant group Boko Haram since the start of 2014.

“Too often people in positions of power preach diversity while silencing, shunning, or censoring the faithful,” President Trump added. “True tolerance means respecting the right of all people to express their deeply held religious beliefs.”

Trump said part of the initiative is the protection of religious sites and relics.

“The Trump administration will dedicate an additional $25 million to protect such sites and relics, including historic houses of worship,” the president said.

The president cited attacks on synagogues in Pittsburgh and San Diego, an Easter terrorist attack on Christian churches in Sri Lanka, and a mass shooting at a mosque in New Zealand as examples of global religious persecution. While America’s leftist elite attack Christianity, President Trump has taken action to protect religious faith worldwide.

Meanwhile, Muslim women in the U.S. Congress continue to denounce Israel, calling for its destruction.

These ladies should decide if they are Americans or Muslims.

The two belief systems don’t mesh.

The nation’s leftwing media blamed the president for Israel’s decision to bar Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Rep. Ilhan Omar from entering the country.

The visits were designed to heap blame on Israel for protecting its tiny homeland from neighbors intent on annihilating it.

Israel has routinely refused entry to foreign visitors associated with the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which calls on governments to put economic pressure on Israel.

The Atlantic Monthly predictably placed blame on President Trump for Isreal blocking the women’s visit to Israel, writing: “(t)he Israeli government has had a new ally encouraging and enabling its antidemocratic instincts: President Donald Trump.”

One might surmise that any nation that seeks to protect its borders or is not willing to enter a one-world socialist government has “antidemocratic instincts” in the view of Atlantic Monthly.

Never mind that Israel is the only Democratic nation in the Middle East as well as the United States’ only true friend in the region.

The magazine, which is a part of the “neverTrump” cabal, adds:

“At every turn, the tight alliance between the Trump administration and the Netanyahu government has facilitated Israel’s drift to the right, further widening the gap between Israel and many of its Jewish allies in the United States.”

The magazine continued its tirade this way:

“This morning, Trump definitively weighed in on Twitter. Israel should not let Tlaib and Omar in, he said, because “they hate Israel & all Jewish people.” (While Omar and Tlaib have both been vocally critical of the Israeli government, and have made controversial remarks about Jewish support for Israel, there is no evidence that ‘they hate … all Jewish people.’)”

However, both women have declared Israel’s origin is “illegitimate.”

While the lame stream media continue to attack President Trump on his every action – building mountains out of molehills, we believe a majority of Americans, including this writer, find the President and Israeli officials spot on. The left also wants the U.S. to open its borders to allow in all manner of people hostile to our culture and political system.

Who knows what enemies have brought into the nation while accompanying the flood of illegal aliens encouraged by former President Obama.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu rightfully said the itinerary of Tlaib and Omar showed the congresswomen’s sole intention was to harm Israel.

The more the leftwing media attacks President Trump, the more they open the eyes of the populace to the goal of elitists to destroy America’s constitutional government.

As columnist Star Parker observes:

“Who invites guests whose motive is to destroy their host?”

The president’s continued sensible actions while under constant rancorous attack could be the reason so many centrist voters now say: “Hurrah, President Trump. Make America a stable, sensible nation again.”
