The Left is still with us...via Left appointees
While there is general disgust with the direction of the U.S. Government during the senseless Obama and Biden presidencies, those failures don’t mean the Democrat Party won’t be put back in power at some point, maybe sooner than later.
One more administration by an individual with the same goals/abilities as Obama or Biden – or whoever the real power brokers were – could mean the end of America as the greatest nation in world history.
While the Democrat party is stumbling aimlessly at present, it is still fighting the efforts of President Trump to put America back on course, using the numerous leftwing appointees of the aforementioned leftists to aid them, not to mention the clueless mainstream media pumping out a steady fusillade of propaganda.
I have a cousin, bless her, who is abhorrent at the efforts of Trump to remove the rot in Washington, D.C. My dear cousin characterizes his efforts as attacks on “our institutions.” I didn’t have the heart to tell her our “institutions” have been taken over by left-wing demagogues who are intent on turning the United States into a socialist dystopia.
But she knows I don’t agree with her assumptions. She’s still dear to me, even though wrong.
I have wondered how President Trump is able to continue his fight and stay focused on the dozens of issues a president must face constantly, realizing that about half the population has been brain-washed into go-along psychopathy.
Classical historian Victor Davis Hanson discussed some of the problems the Democrats are facing in a recent video from the Daily Signal, which he entitled, “The Classless Party.”
He said: “After the defeat of Kamala Harris in November 2024, the Democrats recently decided to run an autopsy, a discovery, so to speak, of why they lost that election. These autopsies are not uncommon for the losing political party, but they only tend to work if you’re honest and you try to analyze every considerable factor or criterion without censorship or without fear.
“In the case of the Democrats, though, there are certain elements of that campaign that were obviously wrong and contributed to their defeat.”
Hanson pointed them out this way, citing the nomination of “Old Joe from Scranton” to be the party’s nominee in 2020 because the alternates were deemed too radical, then after he was elected the first time and the country was rapidly falling apart, they dumped him and replaced him with a clueless radical, Kamala Harris, who ran a dismal campaign while burning through a billion dollars.
Those of us who believe such things can happen might consider it divine intervention.
Hanson summed up the Biden presidency as ordered by party bosses this way: “… when he (Biden) was no longer useful and could not serve as a waxen effigy for a radical agenda under his name or his autopen, then they dumped him.”
Bill Clinton (D-president from Jan. 20, 1993, to Jan. 30, 2001,) a liberal, campaigned and governed toward the center, promoting more police, legal, safe but rare abortions, a secure border and other appeals to the middle class.
The Democrat hierarchy apparently couldn’t bring themselves to put forth a similar candidate in 2024 having become focused on their plans to become the permanent government, using open borders, the Green New Deal, critical race and legal theory as the vehicle.
The Republican Party came in for a bit of criticism in Hanson’s commentary. He said: “Look what happened in 2008 when John McCain lost to Barack Obama. He didn’t do very well at all. He was a moderate Republican.
Conservatives and Independents stayed home by the millions and we got Obama.
Hanson’s conclusion was this: “Until the Democrats look in the mirror and say, “We have a message that nobody wants in the middle class. It’s antithetical to the middle class on crime, on immigration, on energy, on foreign policy, on the economy,” they’ll never change.
“They’re like addicts. They can’t live with DEI, with the Green New Deal, with this utopian globalization, and they can’t live without it.”
President Lincoln said something applicable to the present day not quite 200 years ago, something to the effect that the United States cannot be defeated by outside forces but only by opponents from within.
A conversation by two international observers in The London Gazette gives hope for America’s future.
Tom Cronin, English political scientist, and Bob Loevy, professor emeritus of political science at Colorado College (as best I can tell), wrote this on April 22, 2023, after noting that Hanson because of thousands of immigrants coming over the U.S. southern border, homelessness and drug addiction ruining our downtowns, and China growing in military power, believes the United States will soon no longer be the leader of the present world civilization, wrote: “Here’s a second opinion. We are calling in Arnold J. Toynbee, the British historian of the mid-20th century, who predicted that the United States was building a world civilization that would eliminate major competition and would remain in power for 300 to 400 years.”
But here’s another Toynbee observation: “Civilizations die from suicide, not by murder.”... He claimed every culture collapses internally due to a divergence in values between the ruling class and the common people…”
