It’s hard to believe anyone, including leftist Democrats, can’t understand the danger in transitional surgeries and hormone therapy, especially on children who don’t know themselves yet.

The record is clear. Many people who go through such surgery regret it later when it’s too late to go back to what they were born to be.

The Minneapolis church shooter, Robert “Robin” Westman is one example.

Westman expressed regret that he/she had “brainwashed himself ” into attempting to become a transvestite female.

Why Kill Children?

One major question is why do such people want to kill others, especially children.

Reports from Minneapolis indicate the cause, in Westman’s case anyway, was deep-seated hatred. (Drug-related confusion, maybe?) Acting United States Attorney for the District of Minnesota Joe Thompson said Westman left behind “hundreds of pages of writings, writings that describe the shooter’s plan, writings that describe the shooter’s mental state, and, more than anything, writings that describe the shooter’s hate.

“The shooter expressed hate towards almost every group imaginable. The shooter expressed hate towards Black people. The shooter expressed hate towards Mexican people. The shooter expressed hate towards Christian people. The shooter expressed hate towards Jewish people,” Thompson continued. “In short, the shooter appeared to hate all of us. The shooter’s heart was full of hate. There appears to be only one group that the shooter didn’t hate. One group of people who the shooter admired. That group were the school shooters and mass murderers that are notorious in this country.”

Thompson also said Westman, “more than anything,” was focused on killing children.

“The shooter was obsessed with the idea of killing children. The shooter saw the attack as a way to target our most vulnerable among us, while they were at their most vulnerable at school and at church,” he added.

While studies on drugs used on individuals seeking to change from one sex to another cause some established physical problems, it seems reasonable to assume that psychological problems also could result from taking such drugs.

Such subjects are far above my pay grade, of course.

It’s also possible that different researchers could find different results.

To this country boy, it’s as objectionable as abortion.

One site lists these regrets for transitioning: “Reasons for discontinuing or reversing gender transition included physical or mental health concerns, surgical complications, postoperative pain, unsupportive parents or romantic partners, employment discrimination and difficulties accessing healthcare.”

One of my favorite columnists, Kurt Schlichter on Townhall.com encapsulates the Minneapolis tragedy this way: “A transexual weirdo decided to shoot up a church this week, and the left continues to try to normalize ‘transgender’ behavior. They want an army of individuals arguing that you can somehow change sexes. The reality is that most of these people are perverts and they are all mentally ill. We’re going down a very slippery slope here. It used to be ‘live and let live,’ but now they are coming after our kids. It was a choice by the left to try to make this behavior seem normal. We CANNOT allow that to happen.”

••• If I had been advising Westman I’d have suggested he change the order of his attack, committing suicide first.

••• The most basic explanation for the attack might be anti-Christian behavior...or as Schlichter says, “transexual weirdo.”
