Trump keeps left on defense in 80-20 deals
President Donald J. Trump is a unique personality, outgoing, unfazed by censure and opposition, and amazingly, an extremely astute politician, especially for one trained in the real estate business.
Josh Hammer in a column on Trump’s decision to help Washington, D.C., cure its crime problems, which has national Democrats clutching their pearls, calls it Trump’s art of the 80-20 deal, causing the left to support the wrong side of every issue.
Hammer put it this way: “Trump is once again baiting his political opponents into defending the indefensible. He has a singular talent for making the Left clutch onto wildly unpopular positions and take the wrong side of clear 80-20 issues. It’s politizcal jiu-jitsu at its finest.”
Americans have swung decidedly in favor of President Trump’s administration.
It’s not nuclear science. Trump simply uses common sense to correct serious problems that took years of unwise decisions to create. (Defunding the police, turning out individuals charged with serious crimes with no bond, letting boys compete in girls’ sports and use their dressing rooms weren’t the brightest moves) and suddenly some “undecideds” have moved to the sensible zone.
The more the Trump decisions prove successful, the wilder the liberals (another misappropriated word) have gotten in their “hate Trump” insanity.
Crime is running rampant in large cities, mostly run by Democrats, and people are leaving in droves in search of safer places to live.
Chicago’s 600 murders in 2024 is not a great invitation to gain newcomers.
Rather than working with Trump to tame big city criminal elements, which worked so well in Washington that even the Democrat mayor admits it was successful, Democrat leaders in cities where Trump offered to send aid went into a frenzy and called it another example of Trump’s “authoritarianism.”
While the Left has the national media (mostly leftist fruitcakes) in its pocket, the power of the press has largely withered with the revelations of their highly unprofessional efforts in attacking Trump with false attacks while attempting to hide the mischief committed by their own favorites.
Not all Democrats are part of the cabal but enough of the national so-called leaders are involved to give the party a bad name with normal people.
The Last Patriot News recently reported that Trump, who has made the Republican Party the new “people’s party,” has managed to provide federal funding for over 900 local police departments to help ICE arrest and deport criminal illegal aliens, marking a dramatic shift in immigration enforcement.
And, yes, the Left is still fighting Trump on his efforts to rid the nation of criminals among the millions of illegal aliens the Biden misadministration invited into the nation, including providing them with housing, food and medical care. It should remembered that Biden didn’t do this but rather his left-wing handlers who saw the illegal invaders as potential voters to give them permanent control.
On the point of other governments helping cities with police efforts, you might check the story elsewhere on this page of Gov. Kevin Stitt sending OHP troopers to Tulsa to assist with controlling criminals and homeless campers who are turning that city into a troubled mess.
Also on the subject of helping police, Unmuzzled News carried this story: “George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley appeared on Fox News and dropped some serious political analysis that should have Democrats sweating.
The constitutional law expert explained exactly why Trump’s approach to Chicago crime puts Democrat politicians in an impossible position.
“I think President Trump realized he’s going to win either way,” Turley told guest host Gillian Turner.
“He’s forcing these Democratic politicians to fight every effort of the feds to increase law enforcement efforts in their cities, in their state and that’s not good optics.”
The genius of Trump’s strategy is becoming crystal clear.
Either Democrats accept federal help fighting crime and Trump gets credit for solving their problems, or they reject it and look like they’re choosing politics over public safety.
Turley, who grew up in Chicago, didn’t mince words about the reality on the ground.
“I don’t know anyone that really feels safe in Chicago. Certainly not on the south side,” Turley said.
