Government shutdown; Who cares?

I read where the federal government has been shut down by Democrat senators. I hadn’t noticed.

It might be a good thing. I’ve always wondered if the nation might not be a lot better off without so much “help” from the bureaucracy.

Columnist Mark Lewis suggests the Democrats can’t afford to allow the government to be shut down for too long because citizens may realize they don’t need all the government they’ve been spending trillions on.

I noticed where President Trump plans to furlough some 600,000 federal workers and that plans are to use DOGE methodology to reduce a bunch of waste.

Supposedly, this shutdown was a protest over President Trump’s plan to continue the government without continuing “temporary” health care funds. (Is any spending temporary in Washington?)

That sounds very empathetic. Democrats always sound so caring as they plan programs they hope will put them in power.

But it seems that the primary concern of the Democrats was about keeping federal funds (our taxes) flowing to provide healthcare for illegal aliens, whom the Democrats are intent on keeping here – first to have them counted as residents of sanctuary states, thereby increasing the number of Democrats in the House of Representatives immediately, and later as leftwing voters who will put Democrats in power permanently.

Yes, I know I will be called ”racist” for saying this but I’m not too concerned. The “racist” taunt has become so common from our leftists, nobody pays attention to it any more. Anyone who doesn’t agree with the leftist program these days is immediately termed racist. Anyway, it’s fun to see how much normal people not caring drives the Leftist manipulators nuts.

Controlling Borders Assures Sovereignty

Those people who swarmed across our borders — millions of them — became criminals, including those who were not already criminals in the states that sent them – the instant they entered America in violation of the law.

Any country that doesn’t control its borders loses its sovereignty.

But back to the healthcare fuss that supposedly caused Democrats to revolt.

NPR.org., a leftwing outlet, says: “At issue is the cost of premiums for health care plans people buy on the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, marketplaces.

“Enhanced tax credits for these premiums expire at the end of the year. Since 2021, those have kept ACA plans affordable for people who get their insurance this way.

“Earlier this week, Democrats in the Senate refused to vote for the Republican short-term funding bill that did not include an extension of the enhanced premium tax credits.”

NPR later adds: “It also estimates that extending the policy will cost the government a lot — $350 billion over 10 years. (Note: That would be annually, not a total) “Premium tax credits have been critical to increasing enrollment in ACA plans,” NPR says.

Another Side of the Story

Rep. Mike Haridopolos (R-Fla.) called Democratic demands over Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) amid the government shutdown a “ransom note” during an interview on PBS “News Hour.”

Vice President JD Vance says: “That premium support program doesn’t even expire until next year. So why are you shutting down the government on Oct. 1 because of a program that doesn’t even expire for another few months?”

Vance said in another venue that he thinks that Democrat Sen. Charles Schumer is afraid that he will face a primary challenge from far left New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (AOC) the next time he is up for election so he is schmoozing the radical left of his party now in an attempt to prevent that threat. Politics is the beginning and end of all things in the U.S. Capitol obviously.

“What does another $1.5 trillion in government spending (the assessment of Rep. Mike Haridopolos (R-Fla.), who called Democratic demands over Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) amid the government shutdown a “ransom note” during an interview on PBS “News Hour”... as compared to Schumer keeping his posh Senate seat?

“Let’s also be clear, any Medicaid cuts that they talk about wouldn’t take place until 2027, and a person who’s disabled, who’s elderly, who’s a child of a low-income parent, let alone a pregnant woman, those are untouched,” Haridopolis added.

Turning Point U.S.A.’s Mailing Address

Thanks to Arnold Jech for calling this to our attention.

An article on Page 5 of the Wednesday edition citing efforts of Turning Point USA, the Charlie Kirk-founded organization, listed TPUSA as a place donations can be submitted, but did not provide a mailing address.

The best address I can find is: Turning Point Action 4940 East Beverly Rd. Phoenix, AZ 85044.
