Vote ‘No’ on S.Q. 802

By

One of the talking points of the pro-S.Q. 802 crowd is that expanding Medicaid and obtaining the federal money offered to join the Obamacare program will create an economic boom in the state.

That is delusional. Call it fake news if you like.

The suggested federal money that would come to the state – like the proverbial carrot dangled in front of a mule – isn’t enough to make a significant difference in the state’s economy in the first place, and equally concerning, there is no assurance the funds would continue to be delivered.

If federal funds for expanded medicaid are withdrawn (and America can’t continue on its spending binge and survive) the costs for the Medicaid Expansion program will fall back entirely on state taxpayers.

The state government had deep problems finding budget money this year and that problem will worsen due to dropping oil prices, hence less gross production tax, the historic linchpin of the state budget.

The COVID-19 shutdown means other important tax sources will fall.

Any money to pay for expanded medicaid would have to be raised through a state tax increase.

There’s also this to think about: It’s anybody’s guess what the next politically-motivated crisis might be that will allow our elite to force normal citizens into economic submission.

No doubt, some segment of the society will benefit from a temporary increase in federal spending – there always is – but probably not the “needy” that are supposed to be benefitted.

There are already programs available to provide medical care for our neediest people.

Remember this, also. The federal government sets the welfare threshold. It can increase numbers of recipients at any time, further increasing state taxpayers’ responsibility.

Taxes already take about 40% of middle class paychecks now.

That is one reason the middle class and entrepreneurs are on decline in America. The national debt now exceeds $26 trillion.

The federal government is not Santa Claus. The only way the government can give away “stuff” is to tax productive citizens.

Chris Taigo, a nationally-published columnist, figured that the $26 trillion national debt amounts to $210,000 per taxpayer.

That is an evil trick against this and future generations.

These, and the fact that the entire Obamacare fiasco was a move to ruin America’s healthcare system, are reasons we will vote “No” on State Question 802 at the Tuesday election.

And please remember to vote on Tuesday.
