We’ll vote ‘no’ on S.Q. 802

A serious threat to Oklahoma’s health care system appears on the June 30 ballot in Oklahoma.

If approved it will make Obamacare a part of the Oklahoma Constiution. It’s forever unless rescinded by a statewide vote at some point.

The column below by Steve Fair explains it well.

It is being touted by proponents as a way of returning federal money to Oklahoma by paying for a portion of the increased coverage for those added to Medicaid.

The catch is that the federal government doesn’t guarantee it will pay the same amount of money to states for the program as it does the first year.

After states are hooked into the program, the federal government can cut its contribution by any amount it wants. With the nation’s current debt crisis – in the trillions of dollars, any reasonable person can see that this program is unsustainable.

We notice that hospitals are pushing a “yes” vote with television ads. As an op-ed, we are printing their position in the column on the right side of this page. We certainly do not agree with it.

Obamacare was enacted to destroy America’s free enterprise health care system the best in the world. That’s why people from countries with socialized medicine come to America to get treatment not provided – or not provided in a timely manner – in their own homelands.
