‘I knew it was home’
Kingfisher’s Farrell signs to continue softball career at SCU in Bethany

It didn’t take Mia Farrell long to figure out a small campus in Bethany was right for her future.
“From the second I stepped foot on the campus, I knew it was home,” Farrell said of Southwestern Christian University.
The Kingfisher High School senior officially made it her future home recently when she signed a letter of intent to continue her softball career.
The signing ceremony took place inside the Girls Athletic Center in front of family, teammates, coaches and other friends.
Farrellvisited SCU whenher older sister, Madison, was cheering for the Eagles.
“I loved getting to go watch sporting events there,” she said. “After meeting (SCU head softball) coach (Kent) Williams, I knew he was the person I wanted to play for.”
In batting leadoff for the Lady Jackets this fall, Farrell batted .270 and collected 30 hits.
She led the team with 39 runs and 15 stolen bases while earning Tri-County All-Conference honors for a second straight season.
KHS won the conference for the first time in 2020 and also hosted a Class 4A bi-district series for the first time.
The Lady Jackets finished 25-15.
Farrell said she would have attended SCU even if she hadn’t received an offer “simply because I loved the atmosphere at the campus.”
However, she does get the opportunity to continue her career.
“I know that is not the case for everyone,” she said.
“But God is good and I am very grateful for His favor that was upon me on this journey.”
