The math adds up as KHS gets big win at #8 Bethany

Milestones were hit during an unbelievable shooting performance Tuesday as the Kingfisher Yellowjackets got their biggest win of the season yet.

Bijan Cortes and Matthew Stone both surpassed the 1,000-point barrier for their career, the team shot a blistering 63 percent from the field and KHS won its 40th straight game by defeating No. 8 Bethany 75-63 on the road.

“That was a really, really good team,” KHS coach Jared Reese said after his topranked Jackets improved to 18-0 this season.

“They should be ranked higher than they are. They’ve got a ton of weapons and are really scary. We had to play great on offense to win this one.”

Great is exactly what the Jackets were.

Kingfisher was 27 of 43 from the floor, one of the reasons it was able to overcome a 31-point performance from Bethany standout Brennen Burns.

The Jackets countered with four players in double figures, including 24 apiece from Cortes and Stone.
