After slow start, Okarche offense wakes up against Chattanooga

It took Okarche’s offense a few innings to get kickstarted.

Once it did, the Lady Warriors had more than enough firepower to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Okarche scored all its runs in its final three atbats Tuesday to earn a 7-1 victory at home against Chattanooga.

Down 1-0 entering the bottom of the fourth inning, Okarche finally came through as Lawson Geheb’s double cleared bases that were full when she stepped up to the plate.

In the sixth, Okarche added to it when Katie Parham’s single scored Chesney Black and Sara Jacobs.

Callie Cramer followed with an RBI fielder’s choice, then Parham scored on Hannah Carnott’s sacrifice fly.

That was beyond enough support for Geheb, who allowed only two hits through seven innings.

The right-hander struck out eight batters without allowing a walk.

Chattanooga managed only an unearned run in the top of the third inning.

Parham had three of Okarche’s 10 hits. She had 2 RBIs and scored a run.

Jacobs went 2 for 2 with a pair of runs scored.

Geheb finished 1 for 3 with 3 RBIs and a run scored.
