Kingfisher survived the first day of its Class 4A baseball regional.

After dropping their opener 4-1 to Harrah, the Jackets bounced back Thursday to eliminate Douglass 15-3 in the double-elimination bracket being played at Tuttle.

KHS was set to play Harrah again on Friday afternoon, weather permitting.

Harrah lost 2-1 Thursday night in a winner’s bracket game against top-seeded Tuttle.

Trypp Lack went six strong innings against Harrah, surrendering just two hits and two earned runs.

The sophomore right-hander struck out four and walked three.

The Panthers got half their runs in the first when a double scored runners who had reached on an error and walked.

Lack didn’t give up any more runs until the fifth inning.

The Jackets got within 2-1 in the fourth when Cooper Henley’s double scored Lack, who had earlier singled.

A home run in the fifth pushed the lead back to three runs for Harrah.

Kaden Cline and Henley combined for four of King- fisher’s five hits in the game.

Offense was easier to come by against the Trojans.

KHS had six hits and scored at least two runs in each frame of the five-inning run rule.

Cline was 2 for 4, including a two-run, inside-thepark home run.

He had 4 RBIs in the game.

Brody Davis was 2 for 2 with a pair of RBIs and runs scored.

Meanwhile, Jagger Braun took care of the Trojans at the plate.

The sophomore didn’t allow a hit in his five innings and all of Douglass’ runs were unearned.

Braun struck out eight batters and walked three.

••• Okarche is in the driver’s seat of its Class AI baseball regional.

The fifth-ranked Warriors earned a pair of shutout wins at home and are one win away from returning to state.

They beat Empire 7-0 to open the regional on Thursday, then handed Oklahoma Christian Academy a 9-0 loss in a winner’s bracket game that night.

The Warriors got their first crack at the regional title on Friday afternoon (after press time).

Porter and OCA were set to play an elimination game at 2 p.m. with the winner getting Okarche at 4 p.m.

Should Porter or OCA pull off an upset in that contest, an if-necessary game was set for noon Saturday to decide the regional champ.

••• Dover got within one win of the Class B slowpitch softball state tournament.

With a spot at state on the line, the Lady Longhorns lost 7-1 to No. 2 Leedey in a regional at Leedey.

Dover opened the regional with a 15-0 loss to the Lady Bison.

In the other first-round game, No. 6 Arnett downed Varnum 15-0.

That set up Dover and Varnum in an elimination game and the Lady Longhorns prevailed 15-3 against 11th-ranked Varnum.

In the winner’s bracket game, Arnett beat Leedey 9-6 to earn the first spot at state from the regional.

That pushed Leedey into the game against Dover for the final spot.

Dover’s lone run in the game was a home run by Madison Goodwin.
