    Cashion Wildcats vs. Morrison Wildcats

Cashion handed Morrison its most lopsided loss of the season and will start the new year with an unblemished record. The Wildcats moved to 5-0 Friday with a 67-41 dismantling of Morrison at home. Morrison entered the game 3-2 with the losses coming by a combined two points. That two points was the margin of Cashion’s lead after a quarter, but the home Wildcats dominated the next three for the easy win. A 20-10 run in the second quarter extended the advantage before eventually putting Morrison away with a similar spurt in the fourth. Jacob Woody continued his stellar play as the senior forward paced the team with 21 points. Vance Raney added 13 points while Jonah Jenkins scored 10. Cashion got a late start to the season due to the football team playing well into December. The Wildcats return to the court Saturday, Jan. 4, when they travel to Stroud.

Cashion wins defensive battle

Points weren’t easy to come by, but Cashion’s girls found them easier than Morrison Friday in a 36-26 victory at home. The Lady Wildcats improved to 4-1 by using a 9-3 run in the fourth quarter to open up a close ballgame. Morrison led 7-6 after a quarter in a sign of things to come in the defensive battle. However, the guests never scored more than nine points in any quarter as Cashion took back the lead in the second quarter. Up 17-16 at halftime, Cashion pushed it to 27-23 after three quarters. Sophomore Brook Shelly topped Cashion with 14 points while senior Kaitin Taylor scored 10.
