CCS beats KHS girls, helps them out later
Crossings Christian School didn’t do Kingfisher any favors Tuesday, but did on Thursday.
The Knights defeated KHS 2-0 in a District 4A-2 game Tuesday night in Kingfisher to put the Lady Jackets’ postseason hopes in peril.
However, Crossings’ 4-0 win Thursday against Woodward guaranteed the Lady Jackets their playoff spot.
Kingfisher finished 4-3 in the district and in fourth place behind Elk City, Weatherford and Crossings.
The Lady Jackets will most likely take on Harrah, which is the 4A-3 champ, on the road this week.
However, this year’s playoffs offer a logistical issue for KHS.
For the first time ever, both the boys and girls have reached the playoffs.
Both teams are scheduled to play on Friday, but coach Fay Barnett can’t be in both places at once.
“I’m working with both schools right now to try to figure something out,” Barnett said.
The boys will also finish in fourth, but with a 3-3 mark (Crossings doesn’t field a boys team).
They’ll most likely play at Madill for the first round. Madill is currently unbeaten in 4A-3.
The KHS boys are 4-8 overall while the Lady Jackets are 7-6.
Kingfisher wraps up its regular season Tuesday at Mount St. Mary in a non-district game.
