It’s been nearly a month since the Kingfisher High School girls cross country team has competed at full strength.

That was Sept. 13 at the Class 4A Pre-State Meet at North Rock Creek when the Lady Jackets put together a solid performance and placed third.

A combination of other activities and nagging injuries haven’t allowed the full team to converge on a meet.

That was yet again the case last Saturday when KHS took fourth in the Watonga Cross Country Invitational.

Running against a topheavy field, Kingfisher notched 163 points.

That placed the Lady Jackets behind Hooker, which won the meet with 35 points, Southwest Covenant’s 64 points and Laverne’s 90.

Southwest Covenant entered the meet ranked No. 1 in Class 2A, two spots ahead of Hooker.

Laverne is the top-ranked team in Class A.

KHS was fifth in 4A, but was running without the services of Scout Snodgrass and Mattie Slezickey, both of whom are expected to be in the lineup when the team races this Thursday at Heritage Hall.

Despite their absence, KHS still was six points better than fifth-place Weatherford and further ahead of the rest of the field.

Two of Kingfisher’s most steady runners led the team to its finish.

Addison Price finished 17th out of 152 runners.

She completed the sandy, hilly, winding 3,200 meters in 13:08.1. She was 12th out of runners who scored points for their team.

Harper Evans was 33rd (25th) in 13:42.9.

A little further back saw a cluster of Lady Jackets finish together.

Ryan Farrar, Molly Weber, Lily Lunsford and Hinsley Brodrick were 55th through 58th, respectively (41st-44th).

Their times ranged from 14:30.3 to 14:32.6.

Cashion had one runner in the race as Lyla Sloan placed 54th in 14:27.0.

The Kingfisher County contingent of boys runners were paced by Nick Spradlin of Dover who was 86th out of 211 runners.

Spradlin crossed the finish line of the 5k course in 20:32.7.

Newcomer Kurttis Mark led KHS with a time of 21:42.3, good for 128th.

Chance Dunn was 137th in 22:09.7.

Behind Spradlin for Dover was Jensen Ludwig, who was 130th in 21:47.1.

Kingfisher was fourth as a team in junior high girls.

The Lady Jackets had two in the top 10 scorers.

Olyvia Cooper was ninth overall and fifth among scorers with her time of 10:43.5.
