Winless Watonga wasn’t supposed to give Crescent much of a game in their Week 7 matchup.

And it didn’t.

Crescent dominated virtually every aspect of the game Thursday night to defeat the visiting Eagles 35-6.

The victory improved the Tigers’ record to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in District A-3.

It was their first game since a 21-20 setback to Tonkawa two weeks ago.

After going up 8-0 in the first quarter on Watonga, the Tigers went into overdrive in the second.

Hunter Wilmoth scored two rushing touchdowns and Luke Descher another as the Tigers’ lead grew to 29-0.

Wilmoth scored again early in the fourth for a five-touchdown lead.

The senior had another outstanding outing as he led Crescent’s rushing attack with 172 yards and four TDs on 24 carries.

Crescent rushed for 309 yards and averaged 6.4 yards a carry.

Descher chipped in 64 yards on just nine attempts while Tayon Johnson had 40 yards on seven carries.

In all, Crescent outgained Watonga 348-127. The Eagles had just four first downs while Crescent racked up 25.

Cannon Bowers had eight tackles for Crescent while Johnson and Descher added seven apiece.

The Tigers held steady at third place in the district behind Tonkawa and Cashion.

The only other team with a winning district record is OBA, which was 2-1 at press time with its loss coming to Crescent.

The Tigers still have district games with Oklahoma Christian Academy and Hinton (a combined 2-8 record) before finishing the regular season with No. 1 Cashion.
