Daugherty presented OSU Director’s Chair
Kingfisher’s Ian Daugherty hauled in a prestigious honor recently. The catcher on the Oklahoma State University baseball team was presented the Director’s Chair by the university at a recent banquet. This distinguished academic award for student- athletes is presented to just one person in each sport each year. Daugherty, pictured with OSU Athletic Director Chad Weiberg, earned his bachelor’s degree in finance earlier this month. Graduation ceremonies were May 10, but Daugherty and his OSU teammates were playing a series at Baylor and he was unable to attend. The Cowboys are playing their final regular season series this weekend at home against Arizona State before next week’s Big 12 Tournament. The son of Derek and Micah Daugherty, Ian is a 2021 graduate of Kingfisher High School. An honors student, he helped guide KHS to its first-ever appearance in the baseball state semifi nals in 2019 and led the Jackets to state in 2021 as well. He was also a part of Kingfisher’s 2021 state championship basketball team. [Photo provided]
