For the first time this season, the Dover boys basketball team played a foe Tuesday that likely won’t be among the teams listed in the initial rankings.

The result was Dover’s most lopsided win thus far.

The Longhorns started fast and put it on cruise control as they downed visiting Aline-Cleo 63-13.

The visitors had just five field goals in the game.

Casen Buck matched that by himself in the first quarter.

The Dover junior was joined by Daxx Compton to combine for 20 of Dover’s 26 first-quarter point.

Bucket had 12 of those points, including a pair of treys.

He finished with 15 on the night.

Compton knocked down a pair of 3-pointers in the second quarter as Dover’s lead swelled from 24 to 46 points.

The sophomore ended his night with 14.

Dover also got 10 points from Marco Sotelo as 10 different Longhorns scored.

Dover shot 61.4 percent for the game, including 83.3 percent (20 of 24) from twopoint range.

The Longhorns scored 40 points in the paint and scored 29 points off of 17 Cougar turnovers as they improved to 4-0 on the season.

Goodwin paces Lady Longhorn victory

Dover got back in the win column on Tuesday.

The Lady Longhorns ended a brief two-game skid with a 65-17 win at home against Aline-Cleo.

The dominance started early and didn’t stop.

Dover was up 22-2 after a quarter.

Remi Goodwin’s role in the quick start was big as she poured in 14 points in the quarter.

The home team was up 32-7 at halftime and 43-12 after three quarters.

Goodwin finished with a game-high 23 points.

Dover also got nine points both Dulce Gonzalez and Bella Perdue.

The victory upped the Lady Longhorns’ record to 2-2.
