Three straight wins capped a successful run for the host team last weekend in the Dover Festival.

After dropping their first game to Ripley on Thursday, Dover rattled off wins against New Lima later that night (see our weekend edition) and then picked up wins over Hammon and Vici on Friday.

The three-game win streak had Dover at 3-2 entering this week.

After falling behind by a run early, Dover rattled off seven straight runs in a 7-1 victory against Hammon.

The Warriors got their run in the top of the second inning before Dover tied it up in the bottom half on Brok Cooper’s RBI fielder’s choice.

The Longhorns grabbed the lead for good on Casen Buck’s run-scoring single in the third inning.

Buck later scored on a passed ball for a 3-1 advantage.

Bryce Cockayne and Trypp Lack added RBIs in the fourth and Cooper drove in two runs in the fifth.

Cooper was 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs overall and he also scored once.

Cockayne finished 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored while Buck went 2 for 3 with an RBI and two runs.

Lack gave up four hits on the mound. He struck out five and walked two over the five-inning game.

Buck got a six-inning shutout win in the nightcap.

The right-hander only surrendered two hits and struck out six batters.

Cooper led off the bottom of the first with a double and scored on a passed ball later in the inning.

Despite getting just one hit, Dover added three more runs in the third.

John Browning scored on a dropped third strike before Cooper drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.

Ivan Ruiz chipped in an RBI single later in the inning.

Ruiz was 2 for 3 to go with driving in the run.

Lack, Cooper and Brennan Fletcher had one hit apiece.
