Dover teams continue surges with sweep over Okeene

Okeene tried to rally late in the first half.

Dover would have none of it in the third quarter.

The Lady Longhorns won for the eighth time in nine games Tuesday as they downed visiting Okeene 53-32.

The visitors had one stretch in the second quarter in which they reduced what was a healthy Dover lead to just eight points at halftime.

But the momentum didn’t carry over.

Rylee Buck made three 3-pointers and scored 10 points as Dover pulled away with an 18-9 run in the third.

Buck finished with a game-high 20 points as Dover improved to 15-7.

The Lady Longhorns took control early as they got out to a 13-3 lead.

Kynli Boeckman scored seven of her 14 points in that quarter.

Joi Caldwell scored six of her eight total points in the decisive third quarter.

Longhorns nearly double-up Whippets

Dover’s streak of giving up fewer than 20 points ended.

Dover’s win streak did not.

The Longhorns won their fifth straight Tuesday by dismantling Okeene 57-29.

Like most opponents, the visiting Whippets did struggle to score, especially early. They had just nine points at halftime and 17 through three quarters.

Dover led by 21 points at the break and pushed it 27 entering the fourth.

Three Longhorns reached double figures in scoring.

Jonah Pendergraft led the way with 17 points.

Casen Buck scored 15 Buck made three 3-pointers and scored 13 points in the first half when the Longhorns built the bulk of their lead.

Lucas Conrady added 10 points The win moved Dover to 19-2 on the season. The Longhorns moved up to No. 8 in the final Class B rankings of the season prior to the playoff assignments being released by the OSSAA.
