A Lomega home game against a winless Med-ford squad generally isn’t enough to move the needle. However, the Lady Raiders’ return from the Christmas holiday last Friday had some signifi cance: It also marked the return of junior forward Emma Duffy. Duffy came off the bench to score 10 points in limited minutes during her team’s 87-16 victory. Duffy tore the ACL in her right knee during the summer and has spent the last several month rehabilitating the injury. One of the team’s leading scorers last season, she scored seven quick points as Lomega got out to a 23-5 lead. She was one of six Lady Raiders who scored in double fi gures. Ady Wilson led the way with 15 points while Sophie Vandendriessche added 14. Hensley Eaton added 11 points while Hallie Barton joined Duffy in scoring 10. Lomega didn’t slow down after the quick start. The Lady Raiders were up 45-8 at halftime and 71-9 after three quarters. Medford had two fi eld goals in the first quarter and didn’t manage another one until the fourth. Lomega upped its season record to 9-2 with its sixth straight win. Duffy is one of several injuries the Lady Raiders had to endure during the first half of the season.

Raider defense stingy against Medford

Lomega’s offense was good, but its defense was even better last Friday. The Raiders shut down Medford’s offense in a 62-17 home win to complete the sweep over the Cardinals. The point total was Med-ford’s lowest of the season by 24 points. The Cardinals never scored more than seven in a quarter and were held to two points in two of them. Meanwhile, they struggled to slow down Lomega on its offensive end. Noah Snowden had eight first-quarter points as the Raiders led 17-2. Riley Lumpkin and Tate Ott scored five apiece in the second quarter as the lead grew to 37-8. Snowden finished his night with 22 points despite not playing in the fourth quarter. Lumpkin scored 12 as Lomega improved to 7-4.
