Eagles’ hot streak continues with 21-8 victory over Luther
A playoff spot in hand, Hennessey now is marching to a potential home game for the postseason.
The Eagles took another step in that direction Thursday night with a 21-8 home win over Luther.
Levi Ferrell accounted for all three touchdowns as the Eagles won their sixth straight.
They improved to 6-2 on the season and moved to 5-0 in District 2A-II-1.
Hennessey plays at Stroud, the only other team without a district loss, this week. A win there and Hennessey can claim the district.
However, even with a loss, the Eagles can get second in the district with a Week 10 victory against Casady. That would give them a first-round home playoff game.
Playing a day earlier than scheduled due to forecasted stormy conditions on Friday, Hennessey found itself trailing Luther 8-7 in the second quarter.
The Eagles reclaimed the lead by half as Ferrell scored his second TD of the game, this one on a 5-yard run.
A two-point pass failed and the Eagles were up 13-7 at the half.
They added to it in the third when Ferrell connected with Beau Vinson for a 12-yard touchdown.
