Hennessey remains one of two teams without a 2AII- 1 district loss as the Eagles grabbed their fourth straight victory last Friday.

And - for the second straight week - they did it in dominating fashion.

Hennessey scored the game’s first 35 points and cruised to a 49-8 victory at Meeker.

The win moved the Eagles to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in the district.

They sit atop the standings along with Stroud, which Hennessey plays in Week 9.

Hennessey limited Meeker to 225 total yards and the defense scored the first points of the game when Mario Lopez picked up a fumble and returned it 34 yards for a score in the first quarter.

The offense took care of business with three second- quarter touchdowns.

Levi Ferrell had a 1-yard touchdown run and later threw a pair of scoring passes to Brytan Gardner.

The first one covered 38 yards as Hennessey took a 21-0 lead and the second one was from 6 yards out as Hennessey led 28-0 at the half.

Ferrell got his third TD pass in the third quarter when he connected with Luis Macias-Montoya from 54 yards out.

After Meeker got its lone score of the game, the Eagles closed out with the final two TDs.

Alex Gonzalez found the end zone on an 18-yard run in the third quarter and Gardner got his third TD of the game in the fourth when he scored on a 2-yard run.

A freshman, Gardner even threw a 36-yard pass in the game to Brayson Brinson and also picked off a pass on the defensive side.

Gardner ended up with three catches for 56 yards. His TD run was his lone carry of the game.

Hennessey ran it for 183 yards as a team and the production was spread out.

Gonzalez ran 11 times for 76 yards.

Lopez turned his 11 carries into 48 yards.

Ferrell contributed 57 yards on 12 attempts.

The junior quarterback threw for 143 yards and the three scores. He completed 10 of 15 attempts without a turnover.

Macias-Montoya led the defense with 10 stops. Nine of them were solo.

Ryker Painter had nine tackles while Ben Smith and Gonzalez had eight apiece.

The defense had 14 tackles for loss, five sacks and five takeaways.

Beau Vinson and Esteban Blanco recovered fumbles while Gardner and Gonzalez picked off passes.

Hennessey goes for its fifth straight win this Thursday when it hosts Kellyville.

The Ponies are 4-2 overall and 2-1 in the district with their lone district loss being to Stroud.
