Hennessey survived the 36-hole trek through Boiling Springs Golf Course in Woodward to find a path to the state tournament.

The Eagles placed third Thursday in a Class 3A boys golf regional to automatically qualify for state.

Hennessey fired off rounds of 346 and 328 for a 674 total.

That put the Eagles behind only Casady (622) and Chisholm (653).

For the third and final spot, Hennessey was 37 strokes clear of fourth-place Perry’s 711.

Eagle senior Taylor Ladwig also took home the fourth-place individual medal.

Ladwig opened his day with a 10-over-par 81, but closed it with a 73 for a 154 total.

The Eagles also got a 163 from Kevin Trillo, which was good for seventh overall.

Trillo shot an 86 on his first 18, but settled in for a 77 in his second round.

Daren Lara had rounds of 89 and 85 for a 174, Brayson Brinson shot 90 and 93 for a 183 and Jameson Ladwig carded a pair of 97s for a 194.

The Class 3A state tournament is May 12-13 at Shangri-La Resort in Afton.

( Note: Several golf regionals had to be postponed due to wet conditions at various courses. That included a 2A regional at Idabel Country Club, which includes Dover’s Sam Wood, which will now be played Wednesday, May 7. The 2A regional at The Coves in Afton, featuring Okarche, and the 2A regional at Falconhead, which includes Cashion, will both be played Monday, May 5.)
