Football season officially starts Friday

By

All four local football teams are once again taking advantage of Week 0 to open their 2020 campaigns.

[Ed. note: For much more on each team, including schedules, rosters, districts, seasons outlooks and more, see the “Gridiron Guide” tab that’s included in this edition.]

That, obviously, includes Kingfisher, which hasn’t played a Week 0 game the last two seasons.

The Jackets get the early start Friday when they travel to Alva.

The Goldbugs are one of three new non-district foes for KHS this season.

After home games with Weatherford and Chisholm, KHS will get a week off before starting its slate of district games.

Two of the local schools will be lining up against one another this week when Crescent travels to Hennessey.

This is also a new non-district for both schools.

Both teams are in rebuilding mode and will use this game to garner valuable in-game experience for their young squads.

Cashion has one of the marquee matchups in the state among small schools.

The Wildcats begin a brutally tough non-district schedule Friday when they travel to Tulsa to take on Rejoice Christian, which was a Class A semifinalist a year ago.
