Two-thirds of the way through the Class 3A boys state golf tournament, Kingfisher found itself sitting in fifth place.

The Jackets shot rounds of 326 and 319 Monday at Tulsa Country Club for a 645 total.

That left them well back of the leaders, but only four strokes out of fourth place.

Regent Prep of Owasso led the way with a 579 while Oklahoma Christian School sat in second at 591. Kingston was third with a 625 and Crossings Christian was just ahead of KHS at 641 in the 12-team field. Peyton Burns led the way for Kingfisher with rounds of 77 and 76 on the par-70 course.

His 153 total had him in a tie for 14th individually. Caleb Cameron shot a 79 and 82 for a 161 while Colby Campbell followed up his opening round 84 with a 78 for a 162.

Logun Burnham had rounds of 86 and 83 while Caden Hill fired a 91 and 95.

The tournament wrapped up Tuesday (after press time) with 18 holes.
