Hennessey boys, girls 5th in 3A regional; 2 girls win gold

Cashion was also the host site of a Class 3A regional, which featured Hennessey.

Both the Eagles boys and girls managed fifth place finishes in the team standings.

The Lady Eagles grabbed 43 points while the HHS boys scored 54.

Emma Copeland and McKenna Cheney were regional champs for the girls.

Copeland won the 1,600 meter run with a time of 5:43.28. She was also the 3,200 meter runner-up in 12:26.60.

Cheney got her gold in the 100 meter hurdles with a run of 18.54.

Copeland was a state qualifier in three events as she was joined by Camila Rios, Tayler Franklin and Jocelyn Matousek to place third in the 3,200 relay. They finished in 11:05.06.

Camdyn Richardson is a qualifier in four events for the boys.

The senior was able to reach state with three relay teams and also in the long jump.

Richardson’s jump of 20 feet, 6 1/2 inches was good for regional runner- up.

He also ran the 400, 800 and mile relays that qualified for state.

The mile relay also consisted of Mario Lopez, Luis Macias-Montoya and Beau Vinson as they were second in 3:35.58.

The 400 meter relay team of Jessin Hardin, Vinson, Lopez and Richardson was third in 45.19 seconds.

The 800 relay team consisted of Lopez, Hardin, Vinson and Richardson and placed fifth, but the time of 1:35.39 was able to qualify for state.

Titan Root found his way into state as he was the regional runner-up in the discus with a throw of 124-6.
