Fifteen minutes after Paul Hix was hired as Hennessey’s head football coach and athletic director for the remainder of this year and next year, he met about 30 of his future players.

Their smiles widened when the coach said they’d see “how high the scoreboard can go” next season.

Then the coach’s smile broadened when one of the HHS players asked about spring practice.

Hix also told the boys he’d see them next week.

He was hired in a unanimous vote by the school board at 1:12 p.m. Wednesday, March 27.

Hix grew up in Mannford and has been the offensive coordinator at Midwest City High School since 2017. He was the head football coach at Moore 2014-17, and has also coached at Stillwater, Bixby, Texas State University and Mannford.
