An overmatched Oklahoma Christian Academy squad took an aggressive game plan into last week’s showdown at Cashion.

“They played press man on the outside and blitzed us,” said Cashion coach Lynn Shackelford.

In one respect, it worked. Cashion only took 20 offensive snaps and turned it over twice.

However, on those other 18 snaps, Cashion scored touchdowns on half of them en route to a 64-0 win on homecoming night.

Quarterback Ben Harman threw seven touchdown passes to five different receivers as Cashion moved to 6-0 on the season and 2-0 in District A-3 games.

“They were aggressive and we were able to make them pay for it,” Shackelford said of OCA’s approach.

Harman was 9 of 12 on the night, meaning only two of his completions weren’t scores. His passes covered 319 yards.

His first four TDs came in the first quarter and all were to different receivers.

He connected with Landon LaGasse from 17 yards, Brexten Green for a 69-yard score, Mason Manning from 17 yards and Caden Harrell from 46.

The Wildcats tacked on 29 more points in the second quarter and led 57-0 at halftime, which led to a running clock in the second half.

“Our varsity group only got 16 snaps,” Shackelford added.

And they kept going for scores.

Green and Manning caught their second TD passes in the second quarter. Green’s covered 42 yards and Manning’s 55.

Harrell chipped in an 11-yard TD run before Nick Nabavi hauled in an 11-yard touchdown from Harman.

Cashion added a 10-yard run from Harrell in the fourth quarter.

The Wildcats only ran the ball eight times with Harrell getting half of them for 45 yards.

Green had three catches for 134 yards. Manning’s two catches - both TDs - totaled 72 yards.

Nabavi also had two receptions for 50 yards.

While the offense was piling on points, the defense was being just as dominant.

The Eagles didn’t complete a pass and had just 94 total yards. They averaged just over 2.0 yards a snap while Cashion averaged 18.1.

The shutout was the second of the year for Cashion, which hasn’t given up more than 14 points in any game.

Kyler George paced the defense with 11 total tackles. Harrell recorded 10 and Jacob Farrow eight.

The Wildcats were originally scheduled to play a district game at Hinton this week, but the Comets were forced to cancel due to COVID-19 quarantine restrictions.

Cashion will play Stillwater JV on the road at 7 p.m. Thursday and will be off Week 7.
