Kingfisher pitchers combined to strike out 18 batters Tuesday as the Jackets got their second district sweep of the season.

After a Monday rainout, KHS defeated McLoud 7-2 in both games of a double-header at Homier Field.

Brady Friesen got the complete-game win in the opener and sat down seven Redskins batters with the strikeout.

Ian Daugherty and Tate Taylor combined for 11 K’s in the nightcap. The wins upped Kingfisher’s 4A-1 record to 4-0 and also snapped a two-game losing skid.

KHS lost 5-1 to Deer Creek and 8-0 to Yukon last Friday in the Spring Break Festival in Edmond.

The Jackets’ bats remained quiet early against McLoud and the Redskins got a pair of unearned runs in the top of the third for a 2-0 lead.

That quickly changed as Mason Snider led off the bottom half of the inning with a double.

He scored on a passed ball and Brayden States tied the game by scoring when Daugherty reached on an error. States was a courtesy runner for Friesen, who singled.

T.J. Parker’s sacrifice bunt scored Tate Taylor to give the Jackets the lead, but McLoud was able to escape further damage by chasing down Stephenson and Daugherty on the base paths to garner all three outs on one play.

The Jacket padded their lead with four runs in the fifth.

Friesen again singled and Cash Slezickey, his courtesy runner, later scored on a passed ball. Stephenson walked and scored on another passed ball before Caleb Dick wrapped up the scoring with a two-run double.

Seven different Jackets scored the team’s runs.

KHS had just five hits, but also took advantage of nine walks.

Friesen surrendered just two walks and five hits.

Two of those hits came in the top of the seventh, but Friesen was able to get a double play to end the game.

Stephenson wasted no time putting the Jackets on the board in the second game.

The senior belted a one-out solo home run in the top of the first inning.

He finished 2 for 3 with a pair of RBIs and also scored three times.

Daugherty was 2 for 3, including an RBI double in the seventh to score Stephenson.

Tate Barton also had two hits while Parker added an RBI.

Daugherty pitched the first three innings for the win.

He struck out five and surrendered two hits and an earned run.

Taylor got six strikeouts over four innings and walked two. He didn’t give up a hit.
