Despite a sterling finish, Maddi Kamas came up just short in her bid to repeat at the Women’s Oklahoma Golf Association Junior Girls Championship.

Kamas was 3-under on her last two holes, but Pocola’s Raychel Nelke sank her own 10-foot birdie putt on No. 18 to secure a onestroke victory Wednesday at Cedar Ridge Country Club in Broken Arrow.

Kamas and Nelke entered the day tied after both shot even-par 72s on Tuesday.

However, a double-bogey on the 16th hole saw Kamas trailing Nelke by a pair of strokes with just two holes remaining.

Nelke made a short putt to birdie the par-5 17th hole, but Kamas gained a stroke by knocking down a 15-foot eagle putt.

Kamas then hit into the rough on her drive on No. 18, but was still able to hit the green with her second shot.

She eventually made the birdie putt to pull her even with Nelke.

However, Nelke was able to make her own final putt to finish with a 73.

Her two-day total was 146.

Kamas shot a 74 on the second day and was at 147 for the tournament, one stroke better than Jenks’ Jenni Roller.

Roller also birdied the 18th hole, one of four birdies for her on the backnine.

She started the day two back of Nelke and Kamas and shot a 73 on Day 2. Kamas, who won the event last year, will be a senior at Kingfisher High School this fall.

She now turns her attention to the third annual Elites Cup Invitational, a prestigious event with a select, limited field.

The tournament will be played Wednesday and Thursday at TPC Four Seasons Las Colinas in Irving, Texas.
