Senior wrestlers were honored last Tuesday night at Heritage Gym, then the Yellowjackets sent them out with a win in their final home dual.

Kingfisher downed visiting Clinton 48-30.

Only six matches were contested on the night and the two teams split those evenly in the win-loss column.

All other weight classes saw forfeits for one team or the other.

That included Kingfisher picking up forfeit wins at 175, 190 and 215 as a 30-24 deficit turned into a 42-30 advantage.

John Barnett then capped off the dual with a pin in the second period of the heavyweight match.

KHS was behind 12-0 after the first three weights as the Jackets forfeited at 106 and 113 and neither team sent out a grappler at 120.

Kaden Willms put Kingfi sher on the board at 126 pounds as the freshman picked up a quick pin.

A forfeit victory for Dexter Fletcher at 132 and a fall for Clinton at 138 saw the Reds stake an 1812 lead.

Senior Brayden Kochenower tied it back up with a first-period pin.

The Jackets took a brief 24-18 lead when Jaxon Sheppard earned a forfeit at 150.

The Reds got a late pin at 157 to tie it up at 24-24 and then went up by 6 points with another victory by fall at 165.

The Jackets now prepare for their postseason.

They were off this weekend as teams competed for the dual state championships.

KHS travels west to Watonga Friday and Saturday, Feb. 20-21, for a Class 3A regional.

The Kingfisher girls compete this Monday and Tuesday in a 5A regional at Weatherford.
