KHS golfers 7th at large school tourney

Kingfisher began making preparations for the golf postseason Monday with its first 36-hole tournament of the year.

The Yellowjackets shot a combined 648 at the Class 6A Pre-Regional at Meadowlake Golf Course in Enid.

The score was good for seventh in the large-school field (Kingfisher competes in 3A in boys golf), which consisted of 15 full teams.

The Jackets fired rounds of 326 and 322 on the day.

Edmond Memorial won the tournament with a 574 while Still-water was six strokes back in second.

Edmond North was third at 587, Ponca City fourth at 618 and Edmond Santa Fe (641) and Norman (642) were fifth and sixth, respectively.

Peyton Burns paced Kingfisher with a 75 and 76, good for a 151. That placed him 11th individually.

Caleb Cameron’s 155 (79-76) put him 21st.

Colby Campbell finished at 169 (84-85), Logun Burnham at 173 (88-85) and Garret States at 181 (90-81).

Caden Hill, playing as an individual, had rounds of 96 and 94 for a 189.

Stillwater’s Eric Schuessler won medalist honors with a 137.
