Gold medals from Kaden Willms and Channing Dunn helped the Kingfisher junior high wrestling team bring home some hardware.

The Jackets were runners- up at last weekend’s Clinton Junior High Hub City Tournament.

Willms won the 119-pound weight class while Dunn was the champ at 126.

They led the Jackets to 243 points, second only to Cache’s 276.5. There were 16 teams in the tournament.

Willms went 4-0 in his matches and pinned all of his foes.

Only his semifinal went past the first period.

The championship saw him beat Victor Morales of Cache in just 1:42.

Dunn won his weight class for the second time in as many tournaments and also went 4-0.

He outlasted Anadarko’s Tommy White 6-3 in their championship match.

They were two of 10 Kingfisher wrestlers to place in the junior high division, which features seventh-ninth grades.

Cohen Wallace was the silver medalist at 86 pounds. He earned two pins and a technical fall to reach the finals before being defeated by Altus’ Bowen Grubah.

Others placing for Kingfisher were Noah Bradford (98 pounds), Dexter Fletcher (132) and Jordan Warren (195) taking fourth; Maddux Gomez (106), Chance Dunn (140) and Izaiah Dile (170) placing fifth; and Camden Weinmeister (170) earning sixth.

Cashion scored 57 points in the tournament.

The Wildcats’ Hayden Norrell (106) and Cameron Billen (285) both placed fourth.

The tournament also featured a middle school division for fifth and sixth grades, though there were no team points awarded.

Cameron Wallace placed third at 155 and Alex Ponce fourth at 140 while Eli Davis was fifth at 92 pounds and Steel Snodgrass fifth at 112.

Cashion’s Brock Swickey was third at 112 points.
