Kingfisher, two other county schools tip off basketball seasons Tuesday

Nearly all Kingfisher County teams will be in action on the hardwood Tuesday and it will serve as the season opener for three county schools.

That includes Kingfisher, which makes the trek west to take on Merritt to tip off the 2025-26 season.

The Lady Jackets welcome coach Taylor Young for her fifth year at the helm.

KHS has advanced to the Class 4A state tournament in three of Young’s four seasons as head coach, including last year when it sported a 22-7 record.

Prior to Young taking over, the program hadn’t been to state since 2009.

This will be Colby Connel’s third season to lead the Kingfisher boys.

The Jackets were 16-11 last year and advanced to the area tournament, a stark improvement over the seven wins the season before.

The Lady Jackets will tipoff with the Oilerettes at 6:30 p.m. and the boys will follow at approximately 8 p.m. (Note, the games can be watched live on www. kingfishersports. tv and the KT&FP Facebook page.)

Also beginning their seasons on Tuesday are Hennessey and Cashion.

Hennessey travels to Minco while Cashion will host Chisholm.

Two other teams will resume their seasons after taking off the week of Thanksgiving as Okarche travels to Coyle and Dover will be on the road at Waukomis.

Lomega originally was set to host Oklahoma Bible Academy on Tuesday, but that game was rescheduled to Dec. 9.
