After winning its first three games of the Highway 81 Classic, Okarche dropped its final two matchups and settled for sixth place.

The Lady Warriors beat Timberlake and Chisholm to open pool play on Thursday on their home field (see our weekend edition).

They started Friday with a 10-0 victory over Medford.

In that win, Lawson Geheb pitched a two-hit shutout over five innings.

She also went 2 for 4 at the plate with 4 RBIs, which included a walkoff grand slam in the bottom of the fifth for the run-rule win.

That was Geheb’s second grand slam in as many days.

Chloe Rother and Katie Parham joined Geheb in collecting two hits in the game. Rother and Parham also scored twice apiece.

That win set up a showdown with Tonkawa for a spot in the tournament’s championship game against Kingfisher.

Okarche struck first, but Tonkawa struck last in a 4-2 win.

The Lady Warriors got their runs in the top of the first.

Rother led off with a walk and scored on Parham’s bunt that led to a Tonkawa throwing error.

Parham then crossed home on Hannah Carnott’s base hit.

Two Okarche errors allowed Tonkawa to tie the game in the third and the Lady Bucs got a two-run single in the fourth to stake their lead.

Geheb took the loss despite five innings of solid work. She gave up four hits and two earned runs while striking out three.

Okarche was limited to just two hits in the game.

The loss bumped Okarche to the consolation championship as Alva took second in the pool behind Tonkawa (Okarche was third).

Pioneer was able to score runs in each of its four at-bats and built a 5-0 lead.

Okarche found some offense in the top of the fifth.

A pair of hits and a walk set up Callie Cramer’s two-run single, but the rally stalled afterward.

Sara Jacobs had two of Okarche’s five hits in the game.

Okarche was 8-8 overall at the tournament’s conclusion.
