    Cashion Wildcats vs. Wellston Tigers

Cashion and Wellston scored at a torrid pace in the first quarter of their girls basketball game last Friday night.

Only one of them kept it up.

The visiting Lady Wildcats put the defensive clamps on Wellston over the final three quarters to earn a 79-37 victory.

Wellston scored 16 points in the fi rst quarter, but still trailed by seven points. The Lady Tigers also only managed 21 points the rest of the night.

Cashion improved to 9-2 as Kaitin Taylor poured in 19 points to lead four Lady Wildcats in double fi gures.

Brook Shelly scored 14 while Issy Reeves and Neeley Tilley-Bedick added 12 points apiece.

The offensive output was the best of the season for Cashion. The next highest was 64 points scored against Mulhall-Orlando in the season opener.

Cashion 4th seals win

The Cashion boys basketball team maintained its unblemished record this season, but Wellston didn’t make it easy.

The host Tigers controlled the middle two quarters before Cashion pulled out a 62-57 win last Friday.

Cashion needed an 18-8 run over the final eight minutes to preserve the victory.

It upped the Wildcats’ record to 11-0 heading into the County Line Tournament they host later this week (see related story).

After going up 18-11 in the first quarter, Cashion saw its lead dwindle to three points by halftime.

The Wildcats then trailed entering the fourth after an 18-10 spurt by the Tigers. Sophomore Jonah Jenkins led Cashion with 20 points. His classmate - and cousin - Vance Raney poured in 14. Jacob Woody scored 11.
