CASHION SWEEPS MORRISON

Cashion’s defense stifl ed another foe and led to the Lady Wildcats’ second straight win to open the season.

Playing Morrison at home, Cashion surrendered only six points through three quarters in an eventual 54-16 victory on Friday.

It was much the same last Tuesday when the Lady Wildcats allowed a single point through the first three periods against Chisholm.

Cashion steadily built on its lead as it was up 14-3 after a quarter and then outscored Morrison 12-0 in the second.

The third was more of the same with a 21-3 run.

Brooke Shafer led all scorers with 19 points. She was one of eight Lady Wildcats to score.

Cashion also got 9 points from Kate Nabavi and 8 from Aven Meuten.

Through two games, Cashion has surrendered a total of 33 points with 22 of them coming in the fourth quarter.

Cashion boys hold off Morrison comeback attempt

A 13-point fourth quarter lead nearly disappeared, but Cashion was able to hold on Friday for its first win.

The Wildcats held off Morrison’s late rally for a 69-66 win at home.

Brayden Stuemky put Cashion up 59-46 with 7:20 to play and it appeared Cashion may cruise to victory.

But Morrison began to heat up, namely Seth Dunivan, and the visitors embarked on a 13-2 run.

Dunivan’s outside shooting played a big part of that run as Morrison found itself within 61-59.

His trey later made it a 65-62 game in the final minute, but Cashion made plays down the stretch to seal it.

It started with a pair of free throws by Stuemke with 25 seconds to play as he pushed the margin to five points.

Parker Mitchell then forced a turnover on the opposite end and knocked down two charity shots for a 69-62 edge with 17 seconds to go.

Morrison scored the game’s final four points, though the last bucket came at the buzzer to make it a one possession final score.

Dunivan scored 23 to lead Morrison, which outscored Cashion 20-12 in the fourth.

Cashion built a bulk of its lead in the first half. An 18-11 edge in the second quarter gave the Wildcats a 36-26 halftime lead.

Mitchell led his team with 23.

Cashion also got 20 points from Grayson Little and 11 from Stuemky.

Kyle Yowell chipped in nine points.
